Welcome to Central Herts YMCA

Central Herts YMCA is an autonomous association founded in 1967, as a registered charity. We are affiliated to the National Council of YMCA’s in England. It is part of the wider YMCA movement that was started in London over 160 years ago and is now a worldwide organisation.

Our headquarters in Peartree Lane was converted from a maternity hospital nearly 40 years ago. We started as a hostel for young workers and in many ways that is still what we are. Our two housing units provide homes for 116 people each night and up to 300 in the course of a year. Some stay a few weeks, others much longer.
